Knowing me knowing you…
Welcome! Let me introduce myself. I am Gala Rubanova. I am a professional psychologist and therapist.
I am a registered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and hold Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership MBPsS (GBC). I abide by their Code of Ethics. Currently working towards UKCP registration.
Completing an accredited BPS psychology programme demonstrates that a high-level standard of education and training has been met.
I am proud to acknowledge that I have been trained and supervised by the prominent psychiatrists, psychotherapists and philosophers of the world, such as O. Kernberg, N. McWilliams, Bessel Van Der Kolk, A. Laengle, Caspar Hare and others.
I draw on a variety of approaches in my work, namely Trauma Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Gestalt Psychotherapy and Transactional Analysis. These psychological therapies are highly effective in treating psychological challenges that this thing called life presents us with from time to time.
I continue to invest in my own Professional Development with the aim to assist my client in the best way possible.

hearing you
My friends say I’ve had incredible experience in life. I call myself a Wounded Healer. And I must admit, my life experience helps me to better understand a harmful impact you might have had.
My life experience has brought me into the darkest of places but I never gave up. Instead, I found therapy and learnt to build resilience in the face of different overwhelming situations. I have developed strength to listen to a person’s painful experience.
Furthermore, my vast life experience includes adaptation in a new country, building a successful career, maintaining healthy relationship with a person from a different background (my husband is British born), language and cultural barriers. I also have got profound business experience of effective communication with people at work meetings, on business trips, religious meetings and world exhibitions. Additionally, hiring hundreds of people and overseeing the work of more than 200 employees taught me to appreciate every human interaction I become a part of.
I’ve been an employee and I hired directors. I’ve been a strict orthodox and I opened the first and only synagogue in the region. I’ve been through pain and tears in childhood, overcame this and now I help other people to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I believe each personality owns an invaluable experience, therefore every person’s story is unique and shapes us the way we are.
So, why do people recommend me?
Because I know where it hurts. Why it hurts. Because I know how to get out of dead end and how to not step on the same rake twice. How do I know it? Because I was hurt. Because I lost. I lost people, health, money, relationships…
Because I didn’t just stumble but stubbornly stood on the rake and thought I was so smart…
And that’s just talking about my life experience!
Now add to that a huge amount of training, practice and supervision.
To put it shortly, Psychologist is a calling, a destiny. And to become a good psychologist it’s not enough to simply finish your studies and acquire necessary clinical hours. Therapist should constantly grow mentally and be able to reflect on their experience.
